...The ancient art of marquetry makes these boxes elegant treasure troves for jewelry or mementos. Artisans piece the geometric design from carefully cut sections of mahogany, maple and cherry veneer, using the woods’ rich colors to create a three-dimensional illusion on each surface. The exterior surfaces are polished to a high shine; inside, the box is lined in ivory velvet.
